After his release, the candidate for the legislative elections, Bougane Guèye Dany, held a press conference yesterday to talk about his incarceration in Tamba prison last month. The leader of the Gueum Sa Bopp movement took the opportunity to attack Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, also head of Pastef’s list.
“It was the second time in a month that I was detained in prison. Here in Dakar, they took me into police custody and presented me to the prosecutor. The file was empty, they released me. This is the same case for Bakel’s case, where he was prosecuted for refusing to comply.
Bougane Guèye did not appreciate the behavior of the head of the gendarmerie, the prosecutor, even less that of the Ministers of the Interior and Justice. “It was the prosecutor Aliou Dia who sent me to prison, because it was an order to be carried out. The Minister of the Interior, Jean-Baptiste Tine, General Martin Faye and the prosecutor of Tambacounda showed me that they are from Pastef. Their behavior is proof of that,” he said.
He also asks Ousmane Sonko to clarify his position to the Senegalese on the criminalization of homosexuality, on the famous 1,000 billion account and to make public the declaration of his assets. “He just has to come out in 24 hours to tell the Senegalese that he has criminalized homosexuality, that if he wins the Assembly, he will abolish the amnesty and publish his declaration of assets. (But) he won’t,” he added.
