Increased support for middle school students
The “needs groups” created this year in 6th and 5th grade, in maths and French, will be continued at the start of the 2025 school year. On the same date, they will be partially implemented in 4th and 3rd grade. for one hour per week.
In addition, the homework help time will be doubled for 4th and 3rd grades. In order to set up these groups in 4th-3rd grade, « a thousand positions will be needed”according to the ministry.

The redesigned patent
In 2025, the history-geography and moral and civic education notes will be presented separately for the certificate. A “very good with congratulations” will be created from 18/20.
From 2026, continuous assessment will only account for 40% of the final grade (compared to 50% today).
In the 2027 session, the brevet will be compulsory to enter second grade. Students who fail will go to a second year prep or CAP class.
New programs
At the start of the 2025 school year, the math and French programs will be reviewed from kindergarten to 6th grade. They will also be modified into modern languages for sixth grade and high school.
The rest of the programs will be redesigned in 2026 from 6th to 3rd grade.
One more test at the baccalaureate
In June 2026, all first year students (general and technological) will take an anticipated maths test (in addition to French) adapted to their level. It will count for the 2027 baccalaureate.
“Special Maths” students will have two tests, in first and final year.
School climate
Faced with its deterioration in certain establishments, 150 principal education advisors and 600 education assistants will be recruited from January 2025.
