Trump supporters ready to take up arms: how Washington and polling stations are barricading themselves in preparation for the presidential election

Another hobbyhorse: defense of the middle classes by creating “an economy of possibilities” which involves a birth tax credit, assistance for first-time home buyers or even a boost to business creation. She promises to reduce taxes for the middle and working classes and contrasts her program with that of Trump who, according to her, “fights” for billionaires and big businesses.

More sensitive subject: the question of illegal immigration. On this point, the Democrat was firm and unequivocal in pleading for a toughening of migration policywithout offending left-wing voters. To do this, it is banking on investing in physical barriers with Mexico and intensifying the fight against criminal groups that engage in various types of trafficking.

Nearly 40% of American households own at least one gun, and Kamala Harris’s is one of them. The Democratic candidate, however, promised to better regulate the circulation of weapons by reducing the sale of high-capacity assault rifles, including weapons of war, and by systematizing the verification of the criminal and psychiatric background of weapons purchasers.

Internationally, Kamala Harris follows in the footsteps of Joe Biden by affirming her unwavering support for Ukraine and NATO allies. At the same time, she does not intend to suspend American arms deliveries to Israel while recognizing that “far too many innocent Palestinians had been killed.”

On Donald Trump’s side, the emphasis is on economic protectionism under the slogan “America First”. Among key measures, he plans to introduce customs duties of at least 10% on all imports. A level which would rise to 60% for products from China,”the ultimate commercial enemy”. Donald Trump also pledged to make the United States “the world capital of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies” and to entrust Elon Musk with responsibility for a large audit of the American administration.

Faced with inflation hitting American homes, Donald Trump promises to halve energy costs. How ? By investing massively in fossil fuels on American soil such as gas and oil. “We’re going to drill like crazy.”he also boasted to his supporters. The ambition is, once again, to withdraw the United States from the climate agreement, which describes climate change as “prank.”

On the migration side, he wants to launch “the largest migrant expulsion operation” upon his election if he were to join the White House. The American billionaire plans “to use the army“to achieve its ends in order to expel migrants, then open new detention camps. The automatic land right will also be canceled in the event of the election of Donald Trump,”for children born to irregular migrants.

Donald Trump claims to be the “best friend gun owners ever had in the White House.” and the “defender of the second amendmentwhich allows Americans to keep and carry weapons. “All of Joe Biden’s attacks on gun owners and manufacturers will be reversed in my first week in office, if not my first day.”

Finally, the Republican candidate assured thathe would resolve the war in Ukraine “in 24 hours” if he was elected. “I have a very specific plan to stop Ukraine and Russia. And I have a certain idea, maybe not a plan, but an idea for China”he assured during an interview, without however giving details on the implementation of these plans. He also poses as an absolute defender of Israel in the conflict in the Middle East while claiming not to be “exactly sure to love the way” of which Israel is carrying out its offensive in Gaza.
