A great defender of the animal cause, Hugo Clément puts his feet in the dish by investigating the environmental impact of the presence of exotic species in France or Belgium, far from their basic natural environment, to the point of endangering our wildlife.
“I must admit, I have always had difficulty with the term invasive species. For me, all species have the right to live in nature,” explains the journalist. “But while preparing this documentary, I became aware that man has brought species to France that have no predators. They seriously endanger our local species. I discovered the damage caused by blue crabs, Asian hornets, rainbow trout, Florida turtles and ring-necked parakeets…”
We can still wonder how these species were imported to us. The show found the Frenchman who unknowingly brought in… the Asian hornet. “All this happened by importing pottery from China. A queen hid in his cargo and this man found himself, despite himself, responsible for the invasion of this species. » Quite astonishing.
