This Friday, November 22, a small ceremony was organized at theNecker hospitalhas Paris. For Hugo Nicaise and Milan Hrmo, it was a question of presenting a check for 70,523 euros to the director of this establishment, Maya Vilayleck.
Hugo Nicaise and Milan Hrmo are these two young students who, last summer, cycled for some 3,000 kilometers. A real Tour de France composed of eighteen stages with some beautiful climbs, including the famous Mont Ventoux.
It is therefore with the strength of their calves that the two students, who left on June 29 from Verneuil-en-Halattewere able to collect 70,523 euros. “This is the final balance of the prize pool that we set up before our adventure,” explains Hugo Nicaise.
A goal more than exceeded
“We had voluntarily set an ambitious objective, that of reaching 60,000 euros in donations,” recall the two friends. Many considered this goal unrealistic. We exceed it today by more than €10,000.”
If we add to the donations collected in 2024 those collected in 2020 (i.e. nearly 33,000 euros), it is a total of €103,847 that Roll to Help, the association created for the occasion, was able to offer children sick with Necker hospital. “It’s a colossal sum,” smiles Hugo Nicaise. But we would like to associate Alexandre Ioos with our adventure with whom we shared our 2020 Tour de France.”
A real feat
These three students, who had nothing in their baggage other than a strong desire to collect as many donations as possible, achieved a great feat. “Work and passion give 103,847 euros,” underlines Hugo Nicaise, well known in Senlis for, in particular, having led the campaigns of MP Eric Woerth on several occasions. “It’s only 1% of the Z Event or 0.1% of the Telethon. But look who we are: no one! The conclusion of all this is that with work, passion and a little fun, we can do things that are beyond us.”
This Friday, the two friends wanted to thank those who supported and helped them: families, friends, strangers who became friends. “We have shown the strength of a collective and we have perhaps, hopefully, inspired new project leaders,” concludes Hugo Nicaise.
A little extra something for sick children
The future will tell whether the adventure of the students from the south of the Oise has created vocations or not. In the meantime, the funds raised will be used to purchase bed chairs to allow parents to stay with their hospitalized child, to decorate two departments with wall frescoes and luminous ceilings to provide an opening to the outside or to create a lounge parents, a space for healing and conviviality.
