This party affiliated with Abdou Elinkine Diatta, asks Sonko to go with another method. They also denounced the non-authorization of the publication of the book which talks about the empowerment of Casamance, a declaration made this Sunday, November 3.
Amidou Djiba who carried their word to maintain that “we are prepared to go to a negotiating table in the best possible way”. But why wouldn’t we want the people of Casamance to know their history? Asks Mr. Djiba.
“We must tell Ousmane Sonko that Jacques Charpy to whom he is referring has said everything except the history of Casamance,” he adds.
As a reminder, Ousmane Sonko spoke last Friday in Ziguinchor of the decision taken by the authorities to prohibit the promotion and marketing in Senegal of the work of the French historian Séverine Awenengo Dalberto entitled “The idea of autonomous Casamance – Possibilities and moral debts of the colonial situation in Senegal”.
“You have all heard of a book written by a French woman. I discussed it with the President of the Republic. No one will promote this book here in Senegal. It will neither be promoted nor marketed in Senegal,” declared Ousmane Sonko during a meeting in Ziguinchor, as part of the electoral campaign for the legislative elections on November 17.
Ousmane Sonko recalled that an envelope of 15 billion CFA francs has already been released by the government to support returning populations, as part of the national recovery plan for Casamance, the ambition of which is to revive the economy from the regions of Ziguinchor, Sédhiou and Kolda.
Initiatives welcomed by the MDFC which invites the Prime Minister “to be very careful and to kindly temper his ardor. Do not follow dishonest intellectuals who live on the blood of the Casamance people.”
