FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – Tuesday is going to be a warm, but windy day with wind gusts likely exceeding 40 mph and potentially 45 mph. Because it is Election Day, and there will likely be long lines of people standing out in the elements, the 21Alive Weather Team has issued a First Alert Weather Day.
Today will remain mostly cloudy with chances for on and off rain showers, but there will be plenty of dry moments throughout the day. Thanks to strong southerly winds, temperatures will max out in the low 70s this afternoon and it will feel a bit muggy outside. Tonight stays cloudy with more hit-and-miss rain likely.
ELECTION DAY FORECAST: If you are heading out early tomorrow morning, look for mostly cloudy skies and the potential to be dodging a raindrop or two. As we enter in the middle part of the day(late morning/early afternoon), it looks to stay mainly dry. Rain looks to push in by the late afternoon hours/early evening and last through the nighttime hours. Record high temperatures will be tested tomorrow and we will likely get into the mid 70s and break the record of 73° set back in 2015. Again, wind will likely gust over 40 mph tomorrow, so hang onto your hats!
If you need to head to the polls to vote tomorrow, I would recommend going earlier in the day because the better chance for rain comes later in the afternoon.
Things become calm and sunny for the remainder of the workweek with highs maintaining the 60s through Friday and another shot for rain on Sunday!
Today: Cloudy with hit-or-miss showers; High 72; Wind S/SW 15-25, G30
Tonight: Mostly cloudy, few showers possible; Low 63; Wind S/SW 15-25
Election Day: Mostly cloudy, late PM rain; High 75; Wind S/SW 20-30, G35-40
