The date was not yet known. The suspect in the murder of Philippine, a 19-year-old student found dead in September in the Bois de Boulogne in Paris, will be extradited to France from Switzerland this Wednesday, a source close to the case said on Monday, confirming information from CNews.
He was heard again this Monday by the public prosecutor of the canton of Geneva, and confirmed his consent to a surrender to France according to a simplified extradition procedure, indicated the Paris prosecutor's office.
Taha O. was arrested in Switzerland three days after the discovery of the young woman's body. His lawyer announced last week that he had accepted the extradition, after initially refusing it. “My client has decided to accept extradition to be referred to French judges and to express his views on the case (…). The Swiss authorities will organize the transfer of the detainee from Switzerland to France,” declared Me Florence Yersin, specifying that the delay would be “a few days”. Taha O. “knew that he could have appealed for months”, but he made the choice “to move forward with the French procedure and not to delay it”, she also specifies.
A judicial investigation was opened for rape and homicide after the discovery, on September 21, of the body of Philippine, a 19-year-old student at Paris-Dauphine University, found buried in the Bois de Boulogne, in western Paris. According to the autopsy report, the young woman died of asphyxiation.
