Guest of Faustine Bollaert in the show It starts today this Monday, November 4, Yanis Marshall spoke about a moving episode from his youth. Known for his talents as a choreographer and his performances in the Star Academythe dancer confided that he was the victim of sexual abuse when he was still a teenager. This influence profoundly marked his life, the dancer thought he was living a love story, and saw in this man the only person who mattered to him at the time. “He took my childhood away from me,” he confided, speaking of the impact of this abuse. When his mother discovered the extent of the facts, she sent him away to the United States, cutting his ties with his family and friends to protect him. A decision to which he violently opposed, even threatening to deny the facts or take his life.
Yanis Marshall not only lost his innocence, but also the precious relationship he had with his mother, he explained. This trauma separated him from his family, particularly his mother, whom he resented for years. “He stole a part of my childhood, but also my relationship with my mother,” he said. Yanis Marshall, moved, described the years of personal work necessary to rebuild this broken family bond.

A warning for parents
This testimony, although difficult to share, reflects his desire to alert people to these controlling behaviors. Last June, he had already discussed this subject with Jordan de Luxe on C8, mentioning the risks linked to fame and the world of dance, and emphasizing the importance of being vigilant, particularly for parents whose children are in artistic circles. The latter explained: “It can happen. What I want to say following this revelation is for parents to be careful.”
