This weekend starts the world rugby sevens circuit, with the first stage in Dubai. For the occasion, we discovered this Monday that the competition which will go to Los Angeles next May has a new broadcaster in France, L'Equipe.
The last images of rugby sevens that come to mind are linked to the coronation of the Blues during the Paris 2024 Olympic tournament. But this Saturday, the different teams are preparing to put on the warm-up blue again, with the kick-off of the Sevens Series. The first stage of the world circuit is scheduled for Dubai this weekend. And for the occasion, we discovered this Monday that a new broadcaster has acquired the television rights to the competition. The Team announces that the entire competition will be on its site and application, while “the key meetings of each stage of the French men’s and women’s teams” will be broadcast on the TV channel.
Benoît Cosset and Jonathan Laugel, history of the men's selection (584 caps), will form the commentator duo.
For a long time, rugby sevens had been owned by Canal +, until the pre-Olympic season was broadcast on France Télévisions channels (on the internet). The first broadcast on the L'Equipe website is scheduled for this Saturday at 5:55 a.m. for the start of hostilities, and at 9:15 a.m. on the channel.
