Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on . Tonight: the second James Bond with Daniel Craig!

In 2006, James Bond revealed to fans of the successful saga his brand new face, that of a man darker and solitary than Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan: Daniel Craig. And barely two years after the success of Casino Royale, the new agent 007 brought to the screen by the blue-eyed Briton was back for a high-risk mission, in Quantum Of Solace.

Released in cinemas in 2008 and directed by Marc Forster (to whom we notably owe World War Z and The Worst Neighbor in the World), the film Quantum Of Solace centers on Bond's hunt for those who forced Vesper (Eva Green) to betray him.

In his fight, he crosses paths with Camille Montes (played by Olga Kurylenko), also thirsty for revenge. She leads him on the trail of Dominic Greene (played by Mathieu Amalric), a ruthless businessman and one of the pillars of the mysterious organization.

Caught in a labyrinth of treachery and murder, as he approaches the real person responsible for Vesper's betrayal, James Bond must absolutely stay ahead of the CIA, the terrorists, and even M, in order to thwart Greene's sinister plan. A great race against the clock which takes him to Austria, Italy, then South America.

Really the worst James Bond?

And the least we can say is that after the great success of Casino Royale (with 3,154,245 admissions in , an honorable rating of 4 out of 5, as well as 14 nominations, including 2 festival prizes) this sequel was eagerly awaited by fans of the saga. And unfortunately, she will have disappointed more than one!

Car well that Quantum Of Solace defeated its predecessor at the national box office (with 3,700,000 admissions), the reviews were much more brutal. The press gave it an average of 3 out of 5, and spectators 3.2 out of 5.

And the comments are not more positive. Among the most negative, we can read: “The film bears no resemblance to the franchise's standards, so much so that sometimes you really wonder if you're dealing with a James Bond or a run-of-the-mill spy film”, “The entertainment could have been enjoyable if we didn't feel this disconcerting feeling of emptiness at the end”, or else “By modernizing, James Bond undoubtedly opens up to a new audience, but he suddenly loses his soul.” And you, what do you think?
