MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – A soggy end to the weekend yesterday will carry into the start of the workweek. However, the rain over the next two days won’t be quite as consistent as it was yesterday.

Most areas to the west of Dane County received around an inch of rain, with some places measuring close to two inches. Madison officially measured 0.63″ at the airport, with totals under a half-inch in areas to the east.

What’s Coming Up…

Some light rain will move through the region this morning, mainly in areas to the east. A few spotty showers will remain through the late morning and afternoon, but most of the day will be drier. Clouds will stick around, as will the breezy southwest winds. Thanks to a warm front that moved through last night, temperatures will be mild. High temperatures will be in the middle 60s.

Rain will begin to move back in later this evening, and continue through the overnight. There will be some pockets of heavy rain, and the possibility of a few rumbles of thunder. No severe weather is expected.

Showers will continue off and on through Tuesday morning and into part of the afternoon. We’ll gradually dry things out as the day goes on, and most of us should be dry by the evening. Temperatures will still be in the middle 60s.

Over the next two days, rain totals will be highest south and east of Madison. Those areas will likely pick up 1-2 inches of rain, with isolated higher totals. Madison and areas to the west could see up to another inch of rain on top of what fell on Sunday.

Looking Ahead…

We’re finally dry on Wednesday, with clouds clearing to show some sunshine. Temperatures will be cooler compared to the start of the week, but seasonable in the middle 50s. The back half of the workweek will be quiet and comfortable.

We’re giving you the First Alert on our next weather-maker that could impact your plans for next weekend. Rain looks likely on both Saturday and Sunday.
