The radio crackled! Lando Norris won the sprint race at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix this Saturday, thanks to team play orchestrated by McLaren and in which race leader until the 20th lap Oscar Piastri agreed to take part. The Australian, quick to put out the lights, first wanted to show that he was more than a force by dominating the race, before repeatedly offering the DRS to Lando Norris and finally let it pass on the orders of its engineer.
There was no need to wait any longer for McLaren due to the intervention of the virtual safety car in the final laps, due to the Haas of Nico Hülkenberg stopping on track. Lando Norris took the opportunity to take two small points from Max Verstappen, 3rd in the sprint. Note, however, that an incident involving the Dutchman was noted. The latter in fact rose to the height of Oscar Piastri under a virtual security regime.
Piastri plays great lord
At the start, however, Max Verstappen could have lost everything by slightly blocking his wheels. The Dutchman, however, recovered very well without losing any position. Very close to Charles Leclerc in the first three laps, the reigning world champion first broke his teeth on the Monegasque's perfect defenses. For fear of losing everything, the Red Bull driver often changed his mind when diving, but the Ferrari driver was unable to do anything on the 18th lap at turn 4, when Verstappen attacked him.
In a new episode of your favorite series between Liam Lawson and Sergio Pérez, the Mexican tried to attack his young rival for the seat at Red Bull next year, with a big dive in the first corner after halfway, but a large wheel lock prevented him from passing. It was only a postponement in the 20th lap, where Checo infiltrated from the inside in T1 to steal from his young rival the last point offered (8th).
The two Ferraris, which did not display a magical race pace, finished 4th and 5th ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell (6th). Note the two points gleaned by Pierre Gasly, 7th in the sprint for Alpine, perfectly resisting Checo Pérez at the end of the race. The big part is still to come, however, with the Grand Prix qualifying session scheduled for this Saturday at 7 p.m. French time.
