How was the game
Visitor at ease. Vitória arrived with a proposal to strengthen their marking and go out at speed, and right from the start they created good chances to find the net. In the first minute, the Bahians were scared, and kept the pace. Carpini's team didn't just wait for Botafogo to play, they managed to put together some plots and, at 19, Alerrandro opened the scoring.
Ball at foot, but difficulties in attack. Botafogo had possession, but found obstacles to break through the opponent's marking line. The team rotated the area, but failed to define the plays — and, on many occasions, was forced to recover quickly due to Vitória's good transition. One of the few clearest opportunities came from a cross from Cuiabano that Igor Jesus stopped at the goalkeeper.
Boos at halftime. Botafogo, at times, appeared anxious on the field. And, in the stands, dissatisfaction was clear. Midfielder Tchê Tchê was the target of boos from the fans and, at the whistle that declared the end of the first half, the boos were more general.
Changes and new scenario. Coach Artur Jorge made changes after half-time, with Mateo Ponte replacing Vitinho, Eduardo replacing Tchê Tchê and Tiquinho replacing Junior Santos. The team managed to improve in marking the midfield and attack more clearly in the first minutes of the second half, and applied pressure. In the stands, the response was support and requests for a comeback.
Failed to fit. Vitória, little by little, managed to reduce the spaces and steal the ball in good moments — also reducing the black and white momentum —, but were unsuccessful when it came to making the connection for counterattacks.
