Granit Xhaka was disappointed to see Bayer Leverkusen come away with just a point from what he believes was their best performance of the season so far.
Bayer Leverkusen created chance after chance against VfB Stuttgart on Friday night, but couldn’t convert them into goals as they were held to a 0-0 draw at the BayArena.
The result frustrated Leverkusen midfield linchpin Granit Xhaka, who felt the performance warranted more than a draw.
“We’re disappointed,” Xhaka told DAZN in a post-match interview.
“That was our best performance of the season. With the ball, without the ball – we worked very hard, created a lot of chances. Sometimes you have to reward yourself.”
Stuttgart captain Atakan Karazor acknowledged Leverkusen’s “top performance” and was pleased with the 0-0 draw.
“There wasn’t more in the game for us tonight,” Karazor admitted.
Alexander Nübel, who made a number of fine saves to help Stuttgart earn a point, agreed.
“We have played four games here this year and this was the worst of them. We can be happy with the 0-0 draw,” he said.
