Fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul: Netflix sued for $70 million

The boxing fight between heavyweight legend Mike Tyson and ex-YouTuber Jake Paul – which reportedly attracted more than 60 million households on Netflix on Friday evening – was marked by technical problems reported by many users who decided to sue the broadcaster.

It’s a man in Florida who filed a class action in his state’s court on Monday on behalf of Netflix subscribers.

The latter believes that the online broadcasting giant is guilty of breach of contract due to frequent interruptions during this long-awaited fight, reported the New York Post.

According to him, the poor broadcast quality would have affected millions of people.

The class action thus seeks damages of at least 50 million US dollars (or approximately 70 million Canadian dollars).

“60 million Americans were eager to see “Iron” Mike Tyson, “the most formidable man on the planet,” against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul. What they saw was ‘the worst broadcast on the planet,’” says the lawsuit, which alleges that Netflix was “ill-prepared.”

According to the website Down Detector, nearly 85,000 spectators reported problems with cuts or interruptions in the broadcast during the fight won by Jake Paul.

Netflix said Saturday that the fight was watched by more than 60 million people, saying details of those audiences will be provided over the next week.
