Tahar Rahim tells us why he considers that the filming of Mr Aznavour was, for him, the most beautiful shoot of his life. And the points in common with Charles Aznavour that he discovered little by little.

Your first reaction when we talk to you about this role?

I am friends with Mehdi and Fabien (co-directors) and also Jean-Rachid (1). They didn’t think of me straight away, it was their casting director who suggested the idea to them. Jean-Rachid spoke to me about it on a Friday and I wasn’t planning at all. I didn’t see any connection between Charles Aznavour and me, even physically. I spoke about it in the evening to my wife (actress Leïla Bekhti) who told me I had to do it… I watched documentaries about him. There’s one where he comes out of a plane with an energy, a way of moving his hand, a form of impatience. This hurried side struck me.
