A flagship project of Mayor Christian Teissier’s mandate, the extension of the current economic zone of Méjannes-lès-Alès is on track, according to the words of the first councilor.

With a current surface area of 30 hectares, the economic zone of Méjannes-lès-Alès is a real lung for the town of just over 1,200 inhabitants. Housing, among others, the Arcadie and Senfas companies working in the organic sector, the space also includes the CFA BTP Campus, the Toyota dealership, the Sound and Light Systems company as well as the famous Meduz craft brewery, installed in 2022 to be able to occupy more spacious premises. A diversification of professions which fully satisfies Mayor Christian Teissier.

This area, which developed enormously in the 2000s, was the subject, a little less than ten years ago, of a discussion around its expansion. Alès Agglomération had begun to draw the outlines at that time, initially considering twelve additional hectares, now reduced to six following an impact study. “We had ecological constraints linked to biodiversity with the presence of certain species”affirms the first city councilor.

This increase in surface area was linked to another major subject: the acceptance of the Local Urban Plan of Méjannes-lès-Alès. A year ago, at the Agglo council, Christian Teissier was confident about the positive progress of the situation. At the end of last April, the city council approved it. “The plans are already ready, Alès Agglomération already owns half of the expandable zone”underlines the mayor, having already received numerous requests from businesses, mainly medium and small.

“There is no problem for the Agglo which has this extension competence. They estimate that they need a space between 50 and 100 hectares to carry out their activities”reveals the Méjannais elected official. In a few weeks, it will be in great demand since the Miam show will set up shop at the Alès Agglomération Exhibition Center: “It’s always a great moment for me, especially when we see the success of previous editions”he concludes.
