Omar, the son of Osama bin Laden who lived in , is now banned from French territory

OTue Bin Laden, painter and son of Afghan terrorist Osama bin Laden, received an administrative ban from French territory on Tuesday October 4. The Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau announced it this Tuesday, October 8, 2024 on his X account.

In 2023, the fourth son of the mastermind of the September 11 attacks was expelled from French territory. This expulsion came after the publication of a post on social networks, praising his father on the anniversary of his death. Omar Bin Laden denied being the author of the message. The appeal he filed was unsuccessful and he was expelled for advocating terrorism.

Omar Bin Laden resided in for several years

The Minister of the Interior told Le Parisien that Omar had left in October 2023, after being targeted by an OQTF with withdrawal of his residence permit, accompanied by a ban on returning to France for two years.

What is the difference with the administrative measure taken by Bruno Retailleau? The administrative ban on territory aims to “prevent a foreigner from entering France when their presence constitutes a serious danger”, such as terrorist activities.

Omar had been established in the Orne department in Normandy since 2016. The man resided in France under the status of spouse of a British national, specifies the Minister of the Interior in his tweet. Since his departure from France in 2023, he has resided in Qatar.
