After numerous testimonies accusing Abbé Pierre of sexual assault, the Mouv’Enfants association demands the removal of his fresco in Lyon.
Tagged last week, the portrait of Abbé Pierre on the Lyonnais fresco is more than ever at the center of debates, after the multiple accusations of rape that have emerged. In a press release, the Mouv’Enfants association calls for the removal of the man from the fresco: “We propose that Lucie Aubrac replace Abbé Pierre. She marked the history of Lyon and France“.

Lucie Aubrac, whose real name is Lucie Bernard, was a communist resistance fighter during the Second World War. She was also the founder of a resistance network in Lyon. For its part, the collective launched a petition for her to replace Abbé Pierre, also pointing out the lack of parity on the Lyonnais fresco. As a reminder, the Mouv’enfants association fights against all forms of violence against children and adolescents
Regarding the Abbé Pierre affair, a first measure has already been taken by the City of Lyon. The mayor of Lyon, Grégory Doucet, has in fact decided to rename the place Abbé Pierre, located at La Duchère in the 9th arrondissement.
