As he nears the end of his contract with the team Alpecin-Deceuninckin which he has been playing since this season after turning professional at Soudal Quick-Step in 2022, the 25-year-old Belgian scored his first success among the pros this Monday by winning the 105th edition of the Bernocchi Cup – GP Banco GPM. Having found the resources to sprint a group of seven riders even though he had spent a very large part of the day at the front, the native of Louvain showed that he had not lost his qualities shown among the young people, and in particular his burst of speed.

I knew the breakaway could go far, the rainy weather was beneficial to us in the final I knew I had to be smart and stay in the group I knew I was the fastest, but it’s always difficult when the riders attack from behind. When I saw Neilson Powless shoot I knew I had to go.”explained the one who beat the Frenchman Alex Baudin (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale Team) and the Spanish Roger Adria (Red Bull – BORA-hansgrohe).
