Celebration day in Champagne!
On the occasion of the Montpellier reception this Sunday, Stade de Reims inaugurated, in front of its stadium, a statue of Just Fontaine. The project had been in the works for several months, and the work was finally unveiled almost a year and a half after the disappearance of the French legend, part 1is mars 2023.

He left his mark on football, but above all he embodied values that go beyond statistics: work, self-sacrifice and ambition. We are very honored to see this statue stand at the foot of the stadium. Also present for this small ceremony, Reims mayor Arnaud Robinet commented: « He was the first popular French football icon. Just Fontaine is Reims and Reims is Just Fontaine. He thus enters the pantheon of Reims and Reims sport, joining his teammate and friend Raymond Kopa for eternity. » An allusion to the other statue, representing the 1958 Ballon d’or, which reigns in front of Delaune.
