DECRYPTION – During his general policy statement, the Prime Minister gave details of the tax measures that will appear in the next budget.

Like the goldsmith of Greek mythology, is threatened by a heavy sword of Damocles which could fall on it at any moment, according to the metaphor used by the Prime Minister during his general policy declaration, delivered this Tuesday in the National Assembly. This threat, in the analogy chosen by Michel Barnier, is that of financial debt « colossal » from France, which currently peaks at 3,228 billion euros, « and which, if we are not careful, will place our country on the edge of the precipice ».

The objective is to avoid this disastrous scenario and restore adrift public finances. Thus, the head of government wants to reduce the public deficit from more than 6% of GDP this year to 5% next year. To do this, he promised that two-thirds of the effort would focus on spending cuts.
