A new duo is coming to your screens. France 3 unveils its new detective series on Tuesday October 1, 2024 entitled Tom and Lolawith actors Pierre-Yves Bon and Dounia Coesens. They are the heroes of this fiction directed by Jason Roffe, composed of 12 episodes of 52 minutes each.
Between the two characters, it is the story of a friendship novel like no other. And for good reason, Tom and Lola are long-time friends who will have to work and live together, for better and for worse. What do you need to know about this new detective series? What is the plot of the series about?
In terms of plot, the relationship between Tom and Lola already sets the tone for the detective series. “We love a friend’s faults. We put up with a roommate. We put up with a colleague. But when we’re all three at the same time, and we’re also cops…”we can read in the synopsis. The two heroes played by Dounia Coesens and Pierre-Yves Bon are two childhood friends, single and parents of teenagers who become colleagues in this detective comedy.
“At the beginning of the story, Tom is in drugs and Lola is in Crime. Tom separates from his wife and comes to live with Lola,” says the actress revealed in More beautiful life, whose character had two children from two different fathers. “From the moment when, in fact, Tom arrives and really enters Lola’s life, there will be an upheaval,” admits the actor and fictional partner in an interview for the series (in the video below).
Between our two heroes, it is a friendly relationship like cats and dogs. “They launch into lots of little bets, little missions to find out who will catch the murderer first,” admits Michel Cymes’ ex-accomplice in The Doc and the Vet. Who says new fiction also says new casting.

“Commissioner Suzanne Vaudoyer (Evelyne El Garby Klaï) imposes a benevolent authority, but does not hesitate to redirect her troops. Tom and Lola: a shared roommate on screen and in the city
To perfectly embody their characters, Dounia Coesens and Pierre-Yves Bon underwent special preparation before filming. How did they meet on set? “We spent time together to get to know each other better, then during the filming of the first six episodes, we lived in shared accommodation, each with their own bedroom and only one bathroom,” the actress revealed to the magazine 7 Days TV.
A beneficial collaboration for his on-screen gaming partner. “The experience was positive, because little by little, a creative bond was born. We were able to refine our characters. Sometimes reality merged with fiction,” the actor confided to our colleagues. “We experienced a problem with the oven, a situation which was written in the script and which we shot two days later”.
