In a context marked by rising tensions in the Middle East, Nasser Bourita traveled to the United States to meet the head of diplomacy, Blinken.

It is in Washington, at the State Department, thatAntony Blinken spoke with his Moroccan counterpart Nasser BouritaMinister of Foreign Affairs. Discussions focused on their strategic partnership and also on the question of stability in the region.

In a press briefing, the US Secretary of State stressed the importance of Morocco as a key partner of the United States in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East and also in North Africa.

“Morocco is a critical partner in United States unity and I greatly value not only the relationship between our countries, but also the partnership with my friend, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs. Of course, we follow events in the Middle East very closely. The United States is committed to the defense of Israel. We are watching the events with great attention”indicated Antony Blinken.

Comments supported by his counterpart. Nasser Bourita also spoke of the successful collaborations between the two nations, notably with the free trade agreement between the United States and Moroccosigned in 2004.

The question of the future of Sahara occidental, debated at the UN Security Council, was also mentioned by the heads of American and Moroccan diplomacy.
