In a sprint between tough guys, like on the Grand Place in Binche, it was Arnaud De Lie who emerged victorious to add his name to the Binche-Chimay-Binche 2024 winners list.

Arnaud De Lie (22 years old) won Binche-Chimay-Binche 2024 (1.1) this Tuesday. In a final for strong riders, the Belgian Champion did not panic in the final meters while Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) found himself in front too early and was “forced” to launch his effort from afar. Eventually, Biniam Girmay (Intermarché-Wanty) took 2nd place and Milan Fretin (Cofidis) ranked 3rd after the day’s 198 kilometers. The Philipshe is “only” 4th…

Dries De Bondt untenable on the final circuit

While the peloton evolved on the final circuit around Binche, Dries De Bondt (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale) proved untenable. The Belgian made several attacks before isolating himself around forty kilometers from the finish. Being the good rider that he is, he managed to gain a lead of around twenty seconds but the peloton quickly organized itself not to let him slip away. Others have tried their luck, likeAlessandro Covi (UAE Team Emirates). Despite these attacks, it was a grouped platoon which presented itself at the foot of the Montée de la Pépinière. On a cobbled climb at an impressive pace, it’s patient Arnaud De Lie (Lotto Dstny) qui a sauté Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck), parti de trop loin.
