After the hammer blow dealt by Israel to Lebanese Hezbollah and the assassination of its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, it is now towards the Houthis, a Yemeni group also allied with Iran, that all eyes are turning, estimates this Monday, September 30 the Yemeni daily (anti-Houthi) Mareb Press, the day after Israeli strikes targeted the group’s infrastructure in Yemen.

This muscular Israeli response came after the firing, the day before, of a missile by the Houthis on the city of Tel-Aviv, thus raising fears of an escalation between the two camps, or even a plan for serial assassinations of Houthi leaders and large-scale Israeli strikes in Yemen.

The Houthis, allies of Hezbollah and Hamas, are part of the “axis of resistance”, which also includes Shiite militias in Iraq and Syria. The group has gained power and visibility on the regional scene since the start of the war in Gaza, in particular by attacking merchant ships in the Red Sea, thus disrupting international maritime traffic.
