For years, residents who live near Boulevard Fenouil (16th), in l’Estaque, have been going through hell. Under their window, they see and hear the repair activities of the shipyard (CNM) on Form 10 constantly, including at night. The point of tension reached its peak in May when a mobilization of CGT port employees was organized at the same time and in the same place as a gathering of local residents.

Some accused others of wanting to deprive them of their work tools, others demanded regulation of the work. Violent exchanges took place in front of the entrance to the CNM, and elected officials were attacked by members of the CGT. The dialogue between the City, the GPMM, local residents and the prefecture was then stopped, before an order was finally issued at the end of July. In mid-September, the monitoring committee met for the first time. A new meeting is to take place in November. Provence takes stock.

What is Form 10?

Form 10, inaugurated in 1975, is an artificial island built specifically to repair and maintain large boats. This “form” is one of the largest platforms of its type in Europe. A strategic location in the Mediterranean, around twenty ships pass through it each year, without sorting. “We don’t refuse anyone. To say no is to lose a client and our attractiveness, while we compete with Dubai”reported Jacques Hardelay, honorary president of the CNM, in May.
