Tennis Predictions
100% Italian confrontation during the first round of the Vienna tournament between Lorenzo Sonego and Lorenzo Musetti.
At 22, Lorenzo Musetti is playing his best tennis in several months. Semi-finalist at Wimbledon then bronze medalist at the Paris Olympic Games, the 18th player in the world has become a complete multi-surface player, capable of shining on fast and slow surfaces. Certainly in recent weeks, Lorenzo Musetti has been marking time a little with a 3rd round at the US Open where he was aiming for at least the quarter-finals, then premature eliminations in Beijing (2nd round) and Shanghai (1st round). If in the meantime the transalpine had a final in Chengdu, the tour in Asia was complicated and this return to Europe can only do good.
The number 6 seed will face his compatriot Lorenzo Sonego in the first round in Switzerland. Less known than his transalpine friends, the 50th player in the world nevertheless won the Winston Salem tournament 2 months ago, proof of the quality of this player who has already been one of the 30 best tennis players on the planet in the past. But since this success, Lorenzo Sonego has struggled to confirm, with 4 consecutive eliminations in the first round (US Open, Chengdu, Beijing and Shanghai). Present last week in Stockholm, Lorenzo Sonego did no better than a second round and is not reassured. An unbalanced transalpine duel on paper but a match between players from the same country always remains different!
