South Korean giant LG Electronics is unveiling a new range of portable speakers at CES 2025 designed in collaboration with multi-platinum recording artist and technology entrepreneur will.i.am.
Presented at the same time as the xboom Buds headphones at the CES 2025 show, the new speakers are the result of joint work between the LG teams and the artist. The appointment of will.i.am as the “experiential architect” of the xboom brand demonstrates LG’s ambition to merge culture and technology.
The artist thus brought his musical expertise to the professional adjustment of the speakers, favoring a balanced audio profile with warm tones. This collaboration aims to extend beyond a simple marketing partnership to encompass product development and brand identity.
Artificial intelligence at the service of audio
Like many technological devices, the new xboom speakers integrate an arsenal of AI-based features. Thus, the system analyzes the audio content in real time to automatically adjust the sound parameters, alternately highlighting the melody, rhythm or voice. Smart lighting synchronizes multi-colored LEDs with music, creating an immersive ambiance. Automatic calibration optimizes sound diffusion depending on the environment, whether indoors or outdoors.
A diverse range for all uses
The flagship Bounce model features upward-facing passive radiators that come alive to the rhythm of the music. Its dual dome tweeters and rail woofer ensure an expanded soundstage with precise highs. Its robust IP67 and MIL-STD-810G certified design, combined with a battery life of 30 hours, makes it an ideal companion for all situations.
The audio components, developed in partnership with Danish manufacturer Peerless, benefit from a century of expertise in high-end transducer design. LE Audio Auracast technology allows synchronization of multiple speakers, even without source smartphone compatibility. A speaker can serve as a master unit to stream audio to multiple devices.
In the same way as on the LG xboom Buds headphones, a dedicated button provides access to will.i.am’s RAiDiO.FYI platform, where a virtual host powered by AI offers personalized content. This integration demonstrates the desire to create a complete ecosystem around the musical experience.
Models adapted to each use
The xboom Grab favors mobility with its compact cylindrical format and its multiple mounting options. Its side passive radiators provide dynamic bass despite its reduced size.
The Stage 301, the party speaker, is equipped with a 6.5-inch woofer and two 2.5-inch midrange drivers.
