Garmin presented, during CES 2024, its new Instinct 3 Solar, a MIP screen watch with excellent battery life.
In addition to the Instinct 3 Amoled, the Instinct E and the HRM 200 belt, Garmin unveiled, during CES in Las Vegas, its new Instinct watch with MIP screen and solar charging, the Garmin Instinct 3.
Quite logically, this new watch takes over from the Garmin Instinct 2 launched in 2022. It therefore takes up both the resistant template, with a metal bezel, but also a transflective MIP screen.
One of the main strengths of this display comes from its energy management. Garmin announces up to 28 days of use on a single charge for the 45 mm model – 40 days for the 50 mm model – and, above all, unlimited autonomy thanks to solar charging. It must be said that the Garmin Instinct 3 Solar retains the monochrome display already used on previous Instinct watches.
No mapping or latest generation sensor
Regarding data and health scores, the Garmin Instinct 3 Solar includes the same new features as the Garmin Instinct 3 Amoled. We will therefore find multi-band GPS geolocation tracking, management of the training preparation score or HRV status. On the other hand, as on the more high-end model, the watch does not offer mapping management, nor the Elevate Gen 5 cardio sensor – but only the Elevate Gen 4 sensor – nor even a touch screen.
Like what Garmin offers on its Fenix 8 and Fenix 8 Solar, it is essentially the screen technology, autonomy and solar charging that will make the difference between the Instinct 3 Amoled and the Instinct 3 Solar.
Price and availability of the Garmin Instinct 3 Solar
The Garmin Instinct 3 Solar is also offered at a more attractive price. It starts at 399.99 euros for the 45 mm model and up to 449.99 euros for the 50 mm version.
Already available for pre-order, the watch will be available in stores from January 10.
