FC Barcelona has finally obtained the registration of Dani Olmo and Víctor following an accelerated and provisional decision by the Superior Sports Council (CSD), marking the club’s last resort.

In a press release, the CSD announced that the registration of the two players will be extended in LaLiga as long as the file is being resolved and a final decision is made.

“This measure, which is provisional until the appeal process presented by the club and the aforementioned players is definitively resolved, suspends the agreement established by the RFEF-LaLiga Coordination Monitoring Commission, dated January 4 2025,” the statement revealed on Wednesday.

In its provisional judgment, this body, which is part of the Spanish government, noted that the inability to register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor due to the decisions of the RFEF and LaLiga directly impacts the athletes’ right to earn a living through to their profession.

“In this regard, the CSD assessed that under Article 27 of the Sports Law, professional athletes have the right ‘to a sporting career in line with their potential’ and with all guarantees and certainties” , he added.

At the conclusion of its statement, the CSD stated that a refusal to grant temporary registration would have negative consequences for Olmo, Victor, FC Barcelona, and even the Spanish national team, as well as for other competitions , including LaLiga in the country.

With this decision, FC Barcelona managed to obtain the controversial extension of the registration of Dani Olmo, a key transfer from last summer, allowing the Spanish midfielder to potentially play in the final of the Spanish Super Cup, which will take place in Saudi Arabia, without being called for the semi-final against Athletic Club.

Dani Olmo had stopped appearing as a FC Barcelona player in LaLiga since January 2, after his registration with the team expired on December 31, 2024.

The club had struggled to extend its player’s registration due to financial problems in recent years and had received negative responses from LaLiga, the RFEF and two courts in the days leading up to the announcement.
