Two astronomical phenomena in the sky

Beautiful shows. Astronomical phenomena offered dazzling spectacles to star lovers this weekend. Two nights in a row, the Moon appeared exceptionally close to two planets. On Friday evening, Venus shone near the crescent Moon, on Saturday evening, Saturn was visible not far from this satellite, and Venus was a little away. The spectacle was even more incredible for those who observed it through a telescope, with which it was possible to see the rings of Saturn.

“This is called occultation. This phenomenon causes one star to disappear behind another. The Moon, which is only more than 300,000 km from Earth, passed in front of Venus and Saturn. It appeared larger than these two planets, but in reality, it is smaller,” explains Professor Charles Ratsifaritana, president of the Malagasy association for the promotion of science, on Saturday. According to other explanations, the Moon, which orbits the Earth, passed near Venus on January 3 and Saturn on January 4. These phenomena are not extraordinary because they are not rare for astronomers. Astrologers, for their part, predict important events that will happen in the world soon.

Still in terms of celestial objects, on January 4, the Earth reached the closest point to the Sun, with a distance of 147 million kilometers. This phenomenon, called perihelion, which occurs every year, has no impact on Earth’s temperature or on human health, according to astronomers.
