The 8 perfume trends to follow in 2025

In 2025, perfumery is thinking outside the box with creations that dare to mix nostalgia, indulgence, sensuality and originality. Here are the eight major olfactory trends that will mark this new year.

1. Foodies with a twist

In recent months, we have seen creations that give pride of place to gourmet notes. This category continues to grow in 2025, but with nuances. Ioana Kroonen, founder of Beauty by Kroonen and expert in niche perfumes: “The success of gourmet perfumes that combine enveloping comfort and long-lasting will increase further.”

From buttered croissants (Croissant Café) to crème brûlée (Vanilla Haze) to salted caramel (Black Opium Glitter): the fragrant ingredients of these gourmet fragrances are straight out of the breakfast menu of a French café. “Vanilla, in particular, has gained popularity thanks to its multifaceted character and intensity. Addictive fragrances that stay in your head and awaken the senses,” also predicts Jannita Jáuregui, Education Manager at Skins.

2. Hair perfumes

The trend of ‘skinification‘ in hair care naturally makes hair perfumes the next big trend. The formulas are lighter, provide shine and care, and offer a unique way to prolong your olfactory experience. From Gisou’s Honey Infused Hair Perfume to Diptyque’s Eau Rose Hair Mist – these bottles combine nourishing ingredients and, unlike traditional perfumes that contain alcohol and dry out the fibers, they’re harmless to your hair.

3. Fruity scents

In 2025, perfumers are falling for the sweet and delicious character of cherry, plum and peach. These fruits are even more intensified by combining them with woody and musky accords. Fragrances such as BDK Rouge Smoking Extrait, Juliette and Dior Rouge Trafalgar show that the fruity fragrance trend isn’t disappearing from the beauty world just yet. The Pinterest Trends Report for 2025 also predicts its longevity.

4. Aromatic and green scents

Fresh, spicy and unexpected. Noses are inspired by the smells found at the bottom of the garden: herbs with notes of basil, tomato leaf, coriander and even cucumber. Examples have existed for a long time from niche brands like Aesop and Le Labo. But recently, little wonders have appeared, notably at Dries Van Noten (with basil and rosemary), Maison Margiela (with tomato leaf and mousse) and Sisley (with basil and vetiver).

This growing trend in perfumery follows the popularity of tomato and basil scents in scented candles and room diffusers. Aromatic and green scents also provide a refreshing contrast to the intensity of heavy gourmands and extracts.

5. Creamy ‘latte’ flavors

“If we had to pick a trend we’re loving right now, it would be creamy, milky scents: warm, soft and comforting,” advises Ioana of Beauty by Kroonen.

These so-called ‘creamy’ creations remain an original but rapidly growing category. Think notes like tonka bean, vanilla and sandalwood, but also scents inspired by sweet drinks like milk tea, coffee and even matcha latte. The latter in particular could well explode in the coming months, as is already the case in cosmetics. A great example is Obvious Parfums with Un Été which has a heart as creamy and soft as a cup of matcha.

6. Energy booster perfumes

Perfumes are more and more often more than just a pleasant scent: they have a purpose, that of pleasure but also that of improving your energy, your mood or even your aura. Cosmoss by Kate Moss and Orebella by Bella Hadid are at the forefront in this area. British company Vyrao combines scent notes with crystals and neuroscience, while Charlotte Tilbury’s Law of Attraction collection specifically targets emotions like self-confidence and calm.

The renewed interest in spirituality and well-being has led to the marketing of perfumes that exploit alternative healing practices. Although the claims are not always scientifically proven, they provide an added experience that consumers seem to appreciate.

7. Scents of power

On TikTok, the hunt for perfumes’beast mode‘ was launched last year: trendy fragrances whose trail is powerful enough to stand out in any space. The social network is full of reviews of perfumes promising an intense sillage and long lasting, which strangely seems to attract a fairly young audience.

Jannita Jáuregui of Skins sees how perfume houses are reacting to this trend: “I notice that the young public always wants more, we need more powerful, more intense, more and more intense in terms of sillage. People wear perfume as a symbolic accessory. It is only when they can smell it all day long and receive compliments from those around them that it becomes their favorite perfume, as a part of their identity. You see this manifest in many launches of iconic fragrance extracts.”

Ioana from Beauty By Kroonen also sees many extract launches: “They not only offer increased concentration, but also a twist olfactory, almost ultimately making them very unique. Think, for example, of the Extraits de Matière Première collection, the Extraordinary Extraits of Amouage and the Extraits of BDK .”

8. Exotic perfumes

Imagine the scent given off by a beautiful exotic fruit salad… and you have the latest olfactory trend of the coming year. Mango, coconut milk and lychee will be highlighted because they bring a sunny atmosphere and that touch of carefreeness that appeals to the greatest number of people.

This resurgence of perfumes based on exotic fruits is therefore gaining ground, including niche perfume houses.
