Jacob Newcombe provided a goal and an assist on Saturday to help the Cape Breton Eagles win 5-1 over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan
Author of an 18th goal, Newcombe was then an accomplice in Lewis Gendron’s net.
Cole Burbidge gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead at 7:17 in the first period on the rebound of a Xavier Daigle shot.
Newcombe doubled the cushion midway through the first period, just after a penalty imposed on the Eagles.
He completed a pass from New Jersey Devils prospect Cam Squires.
During the superiority, the puck hit the post on a shot by Louis-François Bélanger, of the Titan.
Early in the second period, Newcombe passed at the right goal to Gendron, who obtained his 14th goal of the season.
Joseph Henneberry and Ales Zielinski also scored for the Eagles, while Squires had three assists.
The reply came from Titan captain Colby Huggan.
