Israeli families of hostages held in Gaza have called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to grant a “full mandate” to the negotiating team tasked with reaching an exchange deal with Palestinian factions in Gaza, after he approved the sending of a delegation to Doha to resume discussions.

Netanyahu’s office issued a statement late Thursday, confirming that “the prime minister has agreed to send a high-level delegation to continue negotiations in Doha.”

In response, the families of the Israeli hostages expressed support for Netanyahu’s decision to send the delegation to Qatar.

Indeed, in a publication on X, they declared: “We must not miss this opportunity.”

The families added: “The hundred hostages held in Hamas’ deep tunnels in Gaza do not have the luxury of seeing negotiations fail. »

They also said: “We demand that the Prime Minister grant the negotiating team full authority to reach an agreement guaranteeing the return of all hostages. »

Separately, the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation cited an anonymous source late Thursday as saying that the Israeli delegation would present a “new proposal” during negotiations to resolve the dispute over the list of living hostages that Tel Aviv is demanding from Hamas before to continue the discussions.

The source did not provide details on this new proposal, but clarified that it “could be discussed between the two parties during the next round of negotiations.”

Efforts by the United States, Egypt and Qatar to reach a permanent ceasefire have so far failed, mainly due to Netanyahu’s refusal to end the war.

The Israeli army continues a genocidal war in Gaza, having caused the deaths of more than 45,500 victims, mainly women and children, since the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, despite a Security Council resolution of the United Nations calling for an immediate ceasefire.

In November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its deadly war in Gaza.
