The new Samsung Galaxy A56: a step forward

The Korean firm Samsung, well known for the variety of its products, seems to be preparing a new surprise for its fans. The first information regarding the Galaxy A56, successor to the Galaxy A55, has surfaced, sparking excitement among fans of the brand. For information, the Samsung Galaxy A55, launched in 2024, quickly established itself as one of the brand's best-selling smartphones. In , as of April 2024, it held an estimated market share of 14.3%, surpassing Apple's iPhone 15 Pro, which had 11.4%.

Globally, Samsung consolidated its leadership position in the second quarter of 2024, with a market share of 18%, slightly higher than Apple's 16%. This performance is partly attributed to the success of models such as the Galaxy A55, which offers an attractive balance between advanced features and a competitive price.

Announced features

According to a leak from user @TheGalox_, the Galaxy A56 could be equipped with an AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the phone could sport an aluminum frame with a glass back and a triple-lens rear camera.

It hasn't been specified what type of cameras the A56 might have, but it's likely that Samsung will continue to rely on a proven combination: a 50MP main lens, a 12MP ultra-wide, and a 5MP macro. However, it appears that the A56's selfie camera might only be 12MP, which is a step down from the A55 which had a 32MP front camera.

Performance and autonomy

The Galaxy A56 will offer a choice of 8 or 12GB of RAM, with either 128GB or 256GB of storage. One of the major new features is the 45W charging speed, which represents a significant improvement compared to the A55 which only offered 25W. Coupled with a 5,000 mAh battery, this charging speed should guarantee excellent battery life for the phone.

The chipset of the A56 would be a generation above that of the A55, with an Exynos 1580. If we are to believe this information, the Galaxy A56 should therefore offer superior performance to its predecessor.

Availability and price

The Galaxy A56 is expected to retail for £439 in the UK, the same price as the Galaxy A55. Availability and price in other countries, however, remain unknown. If Samsung's previous A-series launches are any indication, the phone is expected to launch around March. All in all, the Galaxy A56 appears to be a promising phone, bringing a series of notable improvements over its predecessor. We still have to wait for official confirmation of this information from Samsung.
