With the Google Play Storethe simultaneous downloading and installation of applications appeared at the end of last summer. A procedure which concerns up to three applications at the same time and is practical. It also fills a gap in the Apple App Store.
Obviously, Google has other developments in mind. According to Android Authority, a new feature Smart Resume is under development for the Google Play Store. Thanks to management via notifications, it will allow users to resume previously canceled downloads of applications (or games), without starting from scratch.
Such a recovery would be authorized in a 24 hour limit and for reuse of temporary files. A priori, the prerequisites would be applications with a maximum size of around 2 GB and at least 5 GB of available storage space.
A call for vigilance?
Apart from Smart Replay, Android Authority also spotted in the code of the Google Play Store application indications of warning messages for apps that are likely to be poor quality downloads.
The warnings are of the type:
- This app is frequently uninstalled compared to similar apps on Play
- Play has limited user data on this app
- This app has few active users compared to others on Play
A priori, the message inviting caution will be displayed on the application details page, rather than appearing just before initiating its download.
