More precisely, since December 31 has not yet arrived, IDC is content for the moment to take stock of sales from the 1st to the 3rd quarter of 2024, i.e. until the end of September.

And the least we can say is that Chinese manufacturers are celebrating.

Indeed, according to data from the IDC institute, it was Huawei which dominated the ranking during the period analyzed, with no less than 23.6 million connected watches and bracelets sold worldwide.

An increase of 44.3% which allows the Chinese manufacturer to represent 16.9% of market share in volume, ahead of Apple.

Traditionally the leader in connected watches in the world, the American firm has in fact sold only 22.5 million Apple Watches in the first three months of 2024, for 16.2% market share by volume. That’s a 12.8% drop from the 25.8 million models sold last year. Let us remember, however, that the higher price of Apple Watches generally allows Apple to fare better and represent a much larger share of the market in value.

Xiaomi ahead of Samsung and BBK

In third position, Xiaomi completes the podium, with 20.5 million models of watches and bracelets sold in 2024. It must be said that the manufacturer has multiplied the references, both for its connected bracelets and its watches, especially for the Redmi range.

Finally, Samsung only comes in fourth position, with 11.5% market share, just ahead of the brands of the BBK Electronics group at 7.8%. A good position for Oppo, OnePlus, Realme and Vivo, undoubtedly made possible in part by the success of the OnePlus Watch 2.

The success of Chinese brands is largely explained by the very strong growth of the market for connected watches and bracelets in China. According to IDC, the Chinese market actually experienced an increase in volume of around 20% when, worldwide, sales of connected watches and bracelets fell by 1%.
