Xiaomi launches a smart pen for language learning, here’s how it works

Xiaomi has just unveiled a gadget that would have been the dream of millions of students: the Mijia Dictionary Pen C1. This smart pen, sold for around 46 euros on Xiaomi’s Youpin platform, promises to revolutionize language learning thanks to some pretty interesting features.

Featuring advanced optical character recognition (OCR) technology, the new smart pen can recognize more than 26 million words in just 0.3 seconds, with an accuracy rate exceeding 98%. Its 3.02-inch high-definition screen instantly displays definitions, pronunciations and translations.

Built-in artificial intelligence provides comprehensive learning tools, including detailed explanations, example sentences and grammar points. The system relies on proven teaching methods, such as the Ebbinghaus forgetting curve and SuperMemo techniques, to optimize vocabulary memorization. Brief, a real learning companion, practical for students still at school.

The pen works everywhere, even without an internet connection

One of the major strengths of the device is its ability to work offline, making it particularly practical in the library or classroom. It also hasa voice search function and 32 GB storageall with an impressive autonomy of up to 100 days standby.

The content can be personalized according to the user’s educational leveland parents can monitor their children’s progress via a dedicated application. The latter also allowsexport custom vocabulary lists for later review.

Designed for elementary through high school students, the pen supports bilingual content synchronized with school curricula for grades CP through 3. Its launch in China will begin on December 26, following a crowdfunding campaign. Although its international availability has not yet been announced, this innovative gadget could well transform language learning for future generations of students. We therefore hope that the Chinese manufacturer will soon launch an international version of the product. After all, it’s a shame to see that Xiaomi launches so many such interesting products in Asia, and that they never arrive here afterwards.
