Microsoft is cooking a new update for Windows 11, which will bring its share of new features, ranging from improved user interface to new advanced features.

A redesigned taskbar

One of the most visible changes in this future update concerns the taskbar. Microsoft has revised its design to offer more flexibility to users. It will now be possible to display the date and time in a more compact wayand hide the seconds if desired. The notification icon can also be personalized to no longer clutter the interface.

Jump lists, an often overlooked element, will also benefit from several improvements. Users will be able to launch applications in administrator mode directly from these lists.using a simple keyboard shortcut. This feature will be particularly appreciated by users who regularly perform tasks requiring elevated privileges.

Personalization and information just a click away

Furthermore, for customization enthusiasts, Microsoft is also introducing a new settings page dedicated to RGB lighting effects. This feature will synchronize the lighting effects of different compatible devices, such as keyboards, mice and headsets.. Users will thus be able to create personalized lighting ambiances based on their preferences, without having to go through a manufacturer's software suite.

The Task Manager, an essential tool for monitoring the performance of your computer, will also be enriched. It will now display more detailed information about hard drives, allowing users to easily identify the drive type (SSD or HDD) and its port type (NVMe or SATA).

Improvements for all users

This update is not limited to users who like to tinker. Microsoft has also thought about more casual users by adding new touch gestures for compatible screensas well as hints for shortcuts in Narrator, an accessibility tool for people with visual impairments.

Although most of the new features of this update are already known thanks to Windows Latest, the official deployment date, however, remains unknown – even if it should appear around mid-December. Microsoft should release more information on this very soon.
