I am the fruit of a popular culture which took off in the 90s and which has established itself over the decades as the dominant culture. Video games, cinema, manga, anime, comics, comics, literature, series… I am eager to learn and explore the imaginations available to me, regardless of the media.

Sony is celebrating the 30th anniversary of PlayStation in style and to mark the occasion is offering PlayStation 5 owners a nice surprise which should take them back three decades earlier, that is to say December 3, 1994… the day of the release of the first PlayStation of the name .

PlayStations are coming to PS5

Sony is taking advantage of the 30th anniversary of the PlayStation brand and therefore the anniversary of the release of its very first home console to update the PS5, and this update will certainly please gamers who are by nature nostalgic. Indeed, the PlayStation 5 is equipped for a limited time with the start screen as well as the sounds of the PlayStation One. It's now the Sony Computer Entertainment logo that welcomes you to the launch of the PlayStation 5. And that's not all. We only celebrate our 30th anniversary once and Sony has pulled out all the stops to mark the occasion.

This update also allows you to modify the appearance and sound effects of the home screen and change them to the colors of old PlayStation consoles, namely the PS One, the PS2, the PS3 and finally the PS4. For that, Just go to the Settings menu and click on the “PlayStation 30th Anniversary” option to make your PS5 an ode to PlayStation and its different machines. The only downside is that these options are available for a limited time.

A new PS5 update has brought back the PS1's splash screen and sounds to celebrate 30 years of PlayStation. You can also personalize the home screen with sounds and designs from different generations of PlayStation consoles. – Tom Warren (senior journalist for TheVerge)

The celebrations continue

PlayStation uploaded to YouTube on December 2, 2024 a 4K video that retraces 30 years of “by PlayStation” video games. It was an opportunity for owners of Sony consoles and for gamers from around the world to (re)discover some of the exclusives that have made the glory and reputation of the company's studios throughout the video game ages, but not only that. Several third-party video games are also in the spotlight as they have left their mark on the last three decades of the 10th on PlayStation machines.
