Real-time location sharing
It is now possible to share your position live, up to a maximum of one hour, or to indicate a specific point on the map to make an appointment and coordinate arrival times. Instagram considers this news useful for friends who want to go out together and meet up in crowded places, concerts or others, since real-time location sharing is available not only in individual chats but also in group chats . It is important to emphasize that our location cannot be transmitted to others: only the participants in the chat in which we shared it will be able to see it. Obviously, you should be extremely careful before sharing it with strangers. In any case, the maximum sharing duration is one hour, after which the function deactivates, but it is obviously possible to stop sharing at any time. Instagram also points out that real-time location sharing is only available in certain countries, but it doesn’t provide a list of them. According to the relevant support page, Belgium doesn’t seem to be present at the moment, but things could easily change.
Nickname
You can now add nicknames in DMs for yourself and others. Whether it’s to use a funny name or to remove ambiguity, it’s a simple but useful feature. We are clarifying that the direct message nickname is limited to these only and will not be applied anywhere else on Instagram. Your nickname can be changed at any time and it is also possible to decide who can or cannot change our nickname in a chat. By default, only people we follow can do this. To create a nickname, you must tap on the name of the chat then on “Nicknames” and finally on the name of the person to whom you want to add a nickname in this chat.
New stickers
17 new sticker packs have arrived in DM, for a total of 200 new stickers to share as you wish. You can now also bookmark some of them for quick access.
