On June 25, 2024, the Diablo 4 Season 5 test servers went live. For a week, players then have the opportunity to try out upcoming content and give feedback to the developers. Some are eager for the launch, while others seem skeptical.

What’s new in Season 5?

Season 5 won’t arrive in Diablo 4 until August, but changes have been posted to the Diablo 4 subreddit, where fans of the ARPG are actively discussing them. According to information from Wowhead, there will be a series of adjustments to the skills of different classes. In addition to changes to existing aspects and affixes in the game.

Players are also looking forward to the arrival of 14 new Uniques and each class will be entitled to two of these powerful items, with another five available for use by all classes.

In a thread by Reddit user “clayclws”, upcoming content from Season 5 is discussed. The creator of the thread himself explains wistfully: “Man, this makes me not want to play the season anymore 4…too bad I’m on PS5 and can’t join the PTR.”

However, not everyone seems to be looking forward to the upcoming changes with the same enthusiasm. Which group you belong to should depend on which builds you prefer to play:

  • Past_Lingonberry_633 says goodbye: “See you guys from Bash and guys from Flay.”
  • insan3ity is confident, however: “Something else will rise up and take its place. Barb will always be on top.”
  • EmiliuzDK is already heralding the beginning of a new era: “So Spin-to-Win-Season”.

The barbarian… still the darling of change?

Reddit user Kunaak complains that one class is once again being singled out for the changes: “If you’re a barb, life is fine, if you’re any other class… it’s… not good.” Reddit user Freeloader_, however, objects: “That’s what the PTR is for, so you have to submit feedback.”

For long-neglected followers of the Druids, these changes could be a beacon of hope. Reddit user WashombiShwimp says, “With these small changes for Druids, I’m now very confident that there will be a class rework for the expansion.”

Whether the planned changes will actually make it into the game will depend largely on player reactions, so some criticisms may yet be resolved.
