The photo shows a collision between a Japan Airlines Airbus and a Japanese Coast Guard plane at Tokyo Airport in January 2024.

This Facebook post claiming to show a Compagnie Africaine d’Aviation (CAA) plane that crashed in Kisangani, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), in June 2024 is FALSE.

Published on July 14, 2024, the post reads: “This CAA plane from the DRC crashed in Kisangani.” The post is accompanied by a photo of the wreckage of a plane stranded on an airstrip, some parts of which are charred.

PesaCheck reviewed this post and found it to be false.

A reverse image search with Google Lens led us to this photo showing a crash involving a Japanese plane. According to reports, the crash involved a Japan Airlines Airbus colliding with a Japan Coast Guard plane at Tokyo Airport in January 2024. The incident was reported here, here, and here.

Google Lens search results also led to this article, Associated Presspublished in January 2024.

Video reports on YouTube confirm that the photo of the plane in question shows an accident at Tokyo airport in January 2024.

A Google search for the keywords: “CAA plane crash in Kisangani in 2024” yielded no conclusive results.

PesaCheck looked into a Facebook post with a photo purporting to show a CAA airliner that crashed in Kisangani, DRC in June 2024 and found it to be FALSE.
