Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series is rumored to launch in early 2025, and the entire lineup is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy worldwide. This SoC “for Galaxy” will be an overclocked version of the standard variant. Thanks to it, Samsung’s next high-end phones could perform better than most recently launched flagships, especially in games.

As reported by X expert @Jukanlosreve, Samsung is also reportedly working on a dedicated gaming mode for the Galaxy S25 series. Called Game Assist, this mode would offer upscaling and image interpolation functions, supported by Qualcomm’s AFC supported by Qualcomm’s AFME (Adreno Frame Motion Engine) 2.0 technology.

Of course, Samsung already offers a feature called Game Booster on Galaxy phones. It allocates more resources to the game and prioritizes performance, but the announced Game Assist feature will apparently be a little different. It will aim to provide a better gaming experience by unlocking the 120Hz refresh mode in games that are locked to 60Hz.

Additionally, the scaling technology built into this feature will deliver high-quality textures without sacrificing performance. The iQoo 13 display has something similar, but it relies on a dedicated Q2 gaming chip. Qualcomm’s AFME 2.0 technology, for its part, does not need a dedicated chip for upscaling. It does everything on the GPU.

Qualcomm also claims that AFME 2.0 technology can provide a better gaming experience “while maintaining the same power consumption” As revealed in the screenshot shared by @Jukanlosreve, Samsung’s implementation could remain the same, promising to “offer more performance with less heat”

Although this feature is still in the rumor stage, Game Assist could be one of the new features of One UI 7 confirmed to launch alongside that of the Galaxy S25 series. However, it is not certain whether this feature will be available for older models.
