Ordering two RAM sticks, a player ends up with a box of 50 coins. All he wanted to do was restock.

An unexpected delivery!

A player posted several images on Reddit. These show him with a whole crate of RAM sticks neatly aligned in a box. He himself explained that he was selling entry-level configurations in his store and that he simply wanted to order RAM. Instead, he received a whole crate of them. In another post, however, he explained that he had already contacted Amazon and reported the error. But at the same time, he somehow hopes to be able to keep this little jackpot if Amazon doesn't care.

His behavior is rather rare, as many users who experience such double delivery often pocket the items without worrying about whether, in the long run, they could harm someone. And he is right to point out the error, because officially, the excess merchandise received does not belong to him. In the comments section of his posts, many are delighted with his honesty and the fact that he came forward to the online sales site. But there are also some users who are surprised and explain that Amazon has enough money anyway and that this memory box is not really important for American society.

Over-delivered or incorrectly delivered goods are not officially yours

Can I just keep the merchandise? No, because what you received in excess does not belong to you. After all, you only entered into a sales contract with Amazon for a certain quantity. The famous lawyer Christian Solmecke said that you could quickly get into trouble if you kept an unexpected delivery quiet. This is what he said in the columns of Review online :

If the seller has delivered too large a quantity by mistake, you are required to inform him of this. Otherwise, you could get into legal trouble. If this is an error, you must proceed as described above. If you sell, give away or throw away the item, the entrepreneur can claim damages.

Should I now run straight to the post office? No, no one should expect you to run straight to the post office to refund the excess merchandise received. First contact the seller and set a deadline for returning the goods. They can then either collect the goods themselves or provide you with a shipping label. In fact, you do not have to return anything at your own expense.. After all, it's the seller's fault, not yours. In any case, it is important that you do not pay for the return or have to bear the costs.
