Lledos, a DIY YouTuber, wanted to make The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom experience even more immersive by creating a whole range of connected equipment. This device integrates sensors, allowing actions to be carried out in real time in the game. And we might as well say that the result is striking!

When Zelda pushes creativity inside and outside the game

Although it did not win the title of game of the year and divided players while meeting great commercial success, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was one of the major games of the year 2023. Reusing and profoundly transforming the Kingdom of Hyrule (or rather what remains of it), he invited us to go and defeat Ganondorf and find Princess Zelda, who had disappeared. Sky islands, ground, villages and underground, there were many new features, allowing the biggest fans of Breath of the Wild to rediscover the world. Armed with new powers, Link offers players even more freedom.

It is possible to combine weapons with resources, create vehicles or even cross surfaces. Enough to give free rein to your imagination! The game developers were also surprised to see how far the players went to solve the problems posed by the game and level designers. That being said, there are some more creative than others. The videographer Lledos, for example, decided to reinforce his immersion by developing a sort of “mech suit”. He thus developed a suit full of technology to replace the classic Nintendo controllers.

He doesn’t play with Link, he IS Link

He presented the whole thing in a video, detailing step by step the hardware and software design, but also showcasing how he synchronized his creation with the game. Using a real shield and a sword, he fights enemies with precision and quite impressive responsiveness. To make the experience even more immersive, Lledos wears special gloves obviously reminiscent of Nintendo’s Power Glove, which allow him to build, carry and fuse objects, thus mimicking Link’s abilities.

The performances of Lledos’ creation don’t stop there, as he manages to climb walls, fight bosses, tame horses and solve puzzles. He even uses a real bow to take down enemies, even being surprised at its effectiveness. Obviously, this is a unique creation which is not at all intended to be commercialized. This is not the first time that Lledos has distinguished himself with his immersive peripherals, since he is also known for having created an ax dedicated to Skyrim or a special pistol for Resident Evil 4. He is even at the origin of devices capturing screams in horror games to change the reaction of enemies and the environment.
