Presented once again on LeBreton Flats instead of on Parliament Hill due to renovation work on the Center Block, the big show on July 1 will feature a host of Canadian artists.

They make their mark in different musical styles and at the same time represent the entire Canadian population.

“We will experience very strong moments with artists like Chromeo, Corneille, Fouki or Sara Dufour,” says Isabelle Racicot. But I admit to having a very personal crush on Maestro Fresh Wes. As a teenager, I danced to his music so much that just introducing him to the crowd that night will be the highlight of my year.”

In addition to the artists mentioned by the host, we will also find Kanen, Kiesza, Metric, Neon Dreams, Notoriouis Cree, Qattuu and Willows.

The date of this show, which will be broadcast live on Radio-Canada television, is to be marked with a star in the calendar for several of the artists present.

This is the case of Sara Dufour who will thus experience her baptism of televised events on both sides of the country.

“I have been nervous since the moment I was told that I would be part of the show and my nervousness has only increased since then,” confides the songwriter from Lac-St-Jean. I will perform two songs, including one of my compositions and a cover by a great artist from Quebec. I would love to tell you, but I have to keep it to myself for now.”

Public vote

During the evening, Metric and Fouki will perform a song that was chosen by the public during an online vote held in the spring.

For Metric’s choices, people had to nominate one of three titles, either Gold Guns Girls, Help I’m Alive or Gimme Sympathy. As for Fouki’s repertoire, people had the choice between 80’s, Bijou or Ciel.

The show will start at 8 p.m. and end around 10 p.m. At that time, a large fireworks display will be launched at the same site.
