For a second year in a row, the comedy duo Brick and Brack invites the public to a particularly festive and vibrant celebration of National Day, Sunday at MTelus in Montreal.

Accustomed to portraying their two characters as excessive and absurd sovereignists on stage, François Ruel-Côté and Sébastien Tessier push the concept to the extreme in a show which takes the form of a “huge party” which must continue until 3 a.m. in the morning.

“For us, it’s a bit like our Christmas. It’s the characters’ Christmas,” says François Ruel-Côté.

According to a spectator of last year’s show, which was presented at Club Soda, Brick and Brack’s meeting would even be a “Bicolline de la Saint-Jean”, say the two comedians.

They will not be alone on stage: they will be accompanied by eight musicians as well as several well-known comedians such as Arnaud Soly, Virginie Fortin, Richardson Zéphyr, Coco Belliveau and Maxime Gervais.

Some members of the first version of Mixmania will also be there.

“We wanted a rock show and that’s what we decided to do,” proclaims François Ruel-Côté.

For the duo who are truly passionate about Quebec culture, this is a golden opportunity to celebrate everything that the two comedians love about their province.

“Quebec culture is like our sandbox. This means that we can take all these references and rehash them to bring it in a new way and to a new audience,” mentions François Ruel-Côté.

According to them, their humor, although bursting, can reach both the old and the young, since they introduce old poets and politicians who have left their mark on Quebec.

“Even when we listen to them again today or bring it up to date, (we say to ourselves:) ‘My God! That speaks volumes! The people had verve.’ There’s something irresistible about that. It’s very intoxicating,” says François Ruel-Côté.
